FUJIAN PROVINCE is a coastal province across the Taiwan Straits from Taiwan. Formerly romanised as Fukien, Foukien or Hokkien, it is the fifth richest province in China based on per capita GDP and is the richest province in these terms outside of Beijing and the Shanghai area.
